Gettin' that Grove Thang- Personal Time as a Mom.

by - Sunday, May 19, 2013

It can become increasingly hard to find time (or even want to find the time) for yourself once you become a mom. The luxurious treasures you once encountered on a daily basis soon become something of the past.

Your children become your number one priority, as they should be. But you can't lose yourself entirely in the shuffle. Once you've gotten out of that newborn funk and can decipher between the days & months- start to incorporate some personal time into the mix. Here are some quick tips:

1. Shower before they wake up. This is an important one for myself. Although I may spend most days sporting yoga pants and a tank top, there is nothing more invigorating to start my day off then a shower and a little make-up.

Have you ever tried entertaining a child while in the shower? Their either screaming crying for your attention or attempting to rip, shred, drink, touch, climb on anything in sight that they shouldn't. It can be a killer train wreck. So for the sake of your sanity and theirs, take a shower before they wake up.

2. Enjoy a glass of wine in the evening. Once the kids are in bed, there can be a crap ton of things that need finished around the house or work obligations you might have had to put aside earlier in the day.

It's okay to say screw it every once in a while and just sit back on the couch with an ice cold glass of wine and a good book or long awaited dvr episode.

3.  Accept that invitation for a night out. I know it may seem few and far between when your able to take a night off for a few hours. Whether it may be with your sexy hunk of man for date night. Or a rip roaring moms night out with girlfriends. Say yes. Accept that invitation. Let the grandparents spend some quality time with the kids. It's good to spend some time away, for everyone.

It's no easy task taking care of your precious little ones, it's certainly a full time job in and of itself. It's just all about finding that really great balance in life.

So it was really fun getting to watch an exclusive look at the first episode of Pretty Wicked Moms. It's like a mix between Big Rich Atlanta and Real Housewives. I always say how much I can't stand reality shows before they air, then get completely hooked on the drama and can never miss a beat.
It's ridic to say the least.

Make sure to tune in to watch parenting like you've never seen before with the first episode of Pretty Wicked Moms on Tuesday, June 4, at 10:00 pm ET/PT on Lifetime.

And be sure to come back here once the episode airs- I can't wait to hear what you ladies have to say.
